About Indigo Beacon
We're on a mission to equip people with the skills to navigate information critically and confidently.
How we started
Indigo Beacon was founded by educators, journalists, and researchers who saw firsthand how misinformation was affecting decision-making across every sector of society.
We noticed that while people had access to more information than ever before, they often lacked the frameworks to evaluate its credibility. The gap between information abundance and information literacy was widening.
So we built something different. Not another fact-checking website, but a training organization focused on teaching people how to fact-check for themselves.
Our philosophy
We believe that media literacy is a fundamental skill for participating in modern society. It's not just about avoiding fake news—it's about understanding how information is created, distributed, and manipulated.
Our approach combines:
- Evidence-based methods from journalism and academic research
- Practical tools that work in real-world situations
- Understanding of cognitive biases and how they affect judgment
- Respect for diverse perspectives while maintaining commitment to factual accuracy
Who we serve
Our programmes are designed for anyone who wants to think more critically about information. That includes:
Professionals who need to make evidence-based decisions and protect their organizations from misinformation risks.
Educators who want to equip students with essential 21st-century skills.
Individuals who are tired of feeling manipulated by sensational headlines and want to form their own informed opinions.
We've worked with journalists, NGO staff, policy analysts, teachers, university students, and concerned citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Our commitment
We're committed to political neutrality and methodological rigor. Our focus is on process, not conclusions—teaching people how to verify claims, not what to believe.
We update our curriculum regularly to address emerging challenges, from AI-generated content to new platform dynamics. The information landscape changes quickly, and our training evolves with it.
